The Best Keyboard For Your Money
You've been playing for years and are finally ready to upgrade and get the keyboard you deserve, but finding the best keyboard for your money can be more difficult than you think. There are thousands of keyboards to choose from, each with different features.
Depending on your playing style you may have different or specific wants or needs. For example, a classic player will most likely want a unit with great piano tones and possibly even weighted keys. Other players may derise more variety over any one specific sound or feature. but regardless of your style, the Nord Electro 3 73-key unit is one of the best keyboards for your money.
The Nord Electro 3 is lightweight, weighing it at a mere 15.3 lbs, without sacrificing durability. That said, it seems that the Nord Electro 3 was designed specifically for the gigging keyboardist, which is probably why it is one of the most popular units for both pros and aspiring pros alike.
The semi-weighted keys on the Nord Electro 3 are meant to give the unit optimal performance for the very wide range of tones available.
The Nord boasts one of the best and most authentic Hammond B3 organ tones available outside of an actual chopped B3. The digital drawbars are easy to use and customize, although the presets represent most of the vintage tones you will need. The Nord also features a fairly decent leslie sound as well, although I'm partial to my motion sound rotarty speaker.
The Nord also features a wide variety of amazing tones, from piano to rhodes and even a farfisa, making it an amazing tool for any musician. Overall, the Nord Electro 3 is arguably one of the best keyboards for your money.

How much should i spend on my first piano?
ive been playing piano for just over a year, but this something i plan to do for my whole life, probably not professionally but as a hobby. my parents are willing to pay about $2000 since it will be an instrument i will keep for as long possible. im looking to get somethin like a nord electro 3, korg sv1, or even a casio privia. do you think i should pay up to $2000 for my first piano?
Considering the amount you wish to spend.... You would not get an acoustic piano that would be in a great condition for that amount of money. To get a good upright you need to be looking around the $7000 to $10,000 mark (I'm in NZ), although you can pick up some good buys on auction websites. As someone else mentioned, I wouldn't consider the Nord - it's not the sort of instrument you should be looking at. The Korg SV-1 is a great machine and has some really realistic piano sounds, but it's an instrument directed at jazz players - it's got some really cool jazz organ, piano sounds and great electric pianos. Aside from that it does have a realistic piano action and through Korg you can get new sound sets for it. The Casio privia's are a reasonable choice and can look good at home, their action is ok and you will get some extras (rhythms, sounds etc) with the digital piano.
It all depends on what sort of player you are, and what you can see yourself playing and doing in the future. My suggestion is to go out to a few shops and have a look, play the digitals and see what you can get for the money. Digitals have their place in our modern society, they're compact, don't take much to maintain, and can be reasonably portable depending on the model you choose. Being a pianist, I wouldn't be without an acoustic, but as a teacher advising some of my students, they can certainly be better off with digitals. You could get to around grade 5 or 6 on one, and by then if you're that serious and wish to continue, you'd probably want an acoustic anyway.
